Artsy-Fartsy Me

First off, I have a confession. Ive been sitting here for the last hour trying to get started on this post and before I knew it, I had successfully pinned 30+ pins on my pinterest board. It sucks me in and by the time I rip myself away I feel like Im freaking Martha Stewart and able to make anything my creative ass can imagine.


In reality I feel like my creative juices have stopped flowing long ago.


I used to love to write. And take photos. And design. And paint. And sometime in the last few years I lost that. I imagine it was after I first got married and felt I had to devote all of myself to being the perfect wife, taking care of any and every need my husband had. I became so devoted to everything BUT myself and became someone I didnt recognize.


I havent created anything worth sharing (creative-wise) in sometime now. I miss it. Im in a place now where Im much happier and more secure than before.


Its time to find "me" again. Stay tuned.

10 Years? No Way!

I wanted to blog about this before I got all fired up about the Great SAHM/WM Debate of 2012 post. So, anyways....


Facebook has informed me that my 10 year high school reunion is this year. (Well, Facebook itself didnt tell me, it was some old classmates.... ON facebook. Ok, you get it. Moving on...) I find it completely ridiculous that its been 10 years already. TEN YEARS. Woah.


In many ways I still feel like the awkward dork that I was then. Yet, I feel old. (Did I mention I had to google a slang word the other day?!?) Like.... really old. Ill be 29 this year. Thats almost 30. MmmHmm.


Directly following graduation I had originally planned to join the Air Force, travel the world, fall madly in love with a man in uniform and live happily ever after. Reality had a different route for me. I stayed in my hometown (17701, yessa!) a few years, moved to New Mexico, met my (now ex) husband, moved back to PA, then moved to Indiana, got married, then moved back to New Mexico, back to Indiana, got divorced, met Joe, moved to Indianapolis, had a baby, got married and became a stepmom.


Whew!


Its kind of crazy to think about, all that's happened. I mean... you think so much happens in the 4 years you spend in high school and then you look back over the last 10 and those 4 years seemed like the blink of an eye. Does that make sense?


Anyway, that's coming up. Im going to try to make an effort to go. A lot of people I went to school with will be my lifelong friends. I havent seen some of them since graduation and I want to see what everyones been up to.


Oh, by the way.... Im still living happily ever after.

Surprise!

 

Thats me. And thats something rare that youll see in any picture of me; a true, genuine smile.

My family and friends are the best. Im just gonna put that out there. Let me brag about them for a minute....

My wedding is this weekend. Ive still got quite a bit to do (Remember, Im the Queen of Procrastinators ), and Ive been fairly stressed. I believe it was Maceys idea to throw a bridal shower.

Its not easy to surprise me. I pick up on things pretty quick and figure things out... I like to think im smart like that. BUT... these amazing people planned the most fabulous surprise shower ever!!!

I grew up in Pennsylvania (remember from this post, "soda"not "pop") and most of my family is still there. My AMAZING future mother in law went thru the trouble of contacting my family and friends and set it up to where they would call me during the shower.Seriously.... how awesome is she?!? I was overwhelmed and had a minor ugly cry moment, but it was because I was so touched.

Everyone had gone out of their way to make this special for me and I couldnt even begin to thank them. I only hope that they come and have the best time ever this weekend.

Im so lucky to have such amazing people in my life.

To everyone who had a part in anything related to this shower and weekend, thank you from the super depths of my heart. Youre the best and I am SO blessed to have you all in my life. 

Enough mushiness. Now go grab a tissue and pat yourselves on the back. Go on... Ill wait.....

My Girls

Every blog has to start somewhere, right? So, here's my beginning.....

I'm Tabitha if you haven't figured that out already. As of press time I'm 27 years old and a Mom to 1 year old Delaney and soon to be stepmom to 11 year old Macey. I'm a stay at home mom (SAHM for when I'm too lazy to type it out) who needed a hobby. Blogging beat out money laundering and knitting. So, here I be.

I figure its only fair that I share a bit of what to expect with you so you can get the full At Home With Tabitha experience..... *Enjoy.

• My girls are the coolest kids on the planet Earth and all neighboring planets. This is not open for discussion.
• I was born in and spent my first 20 years in Pennsylvania. It's soda, not pop. And tour is pronounced "tore" not "two or". (There will be a post about that in the future, I'm sure)
• I hate to use apostrophes when I type. Be prepared to see lots of Im and theyd vs I'd and They'd. I'm only using them now to impress you so you'll stay and read more. It's kind of driving me crazy right now.
• I'm opinionated. Very, in fact. And I post controversial things. Some of those things are bound to strike a nerve at one point or another. When this happens feel free to comment and let me know what's on your mind. The only things that won't be tolerated are hateful posts. You all know those aren't cool. And be nice to each other. 
• I like to use smiley faces. And little hearts. If that kind of thing bothers you, my sincere apology. (Not really tho) :) <3
• I also like to use tho instead of though and thru instead of through. Don't play grammar police, I know what I'm saying.
• I like to pretend I'm Betty Crocker from time to time and like to try new recipes. Expect some of those.
• You may find a few naughty words in here. I know I have kids and I should watch what I say. I do.... 90% of the time. You get the point.
• I'm getting married in a month. You'll hear about that. If you're not planning a wedding yourself you will tire of this quickly. I'll try to keep it to a minimum, but I make no promises.
• It is REALLY driving me crazy using apostrophes. I'm just going to stop now. Hope that's ok with you.
 

So... thats all i got. For now anyway. Im going to go off on tangents and rattle off some craziness in the posts to follow this one, Im sure. Just roll with it.Itll be worth it.
